Where and how to vote
Cool, Vern, that you're running for office. But I am looking for some help now. What do?
I get you. I really do. Finding the help you need in our current set up is, well, frustrating, and this is coming from someone who feels like they're pretty decent at finding answers to questions. So I'm working on a one-stop-shop for whatever it is you are looking for. Don't see anything you think could help? Try calling 211 (a state-wide help line) or head to my contact page and drop me a line there. Please note, that this list is non-exhaustive and is focused on Grafton District 1 and the immediate area. Please also note that being on this list does not mean I condone, have worked with, or have vetted these businesses on a personal level.

Voting can be a bit of a mystifying process. In New Hampshire, you can pre-register to vote at your local town office with your town clerk, or you can do same-day registration at the polls. The choice is yours, but pre-registering means your vote will count that day when they count the votes, whereas a same-day registration vote is held to ensure that you are an eligible voter in that town. You will need an official photo ID (driver's license, non-driver's ID card, passport, military ID), proof of citizenship (birth certificate, naturalization documents, or if you're bringing your passport, that will work) and a current proof of address (lease, mortgage statement, utility bill with your home address on it) to register. To find out more, please visit the NH Secretary of State website or look at their handy pocket guide for registering.
Remember: if you are a minor now but will be 18 on election day, November 5th, you are eligible to register now AND eligible to vote in the state party primaries, which are on Tuesday, September 10th!
If you are party registered, but want to change your party affiliation for the primaries, you MUST change your registration with the town before the Supervisor of the Checklist convenes to update the registration list. Every town is different, so if you are unable to find that date on the town website above, please reach out to the town clerk's office directly. If you are not party affiliated on your registration, you can go to vote on September 10th and choose the party you wish to vote at that time. If you are unsure if you registered with a party affiliation, you can check your registration at the town clerk's office in your town.
Election Day this year is on Tuesday, November 5th!
